Maryrose Franko

Dr. Maryrose Franko is Executive Director of the Health Research Alliance, a multinational consortium of nonprofit organizations working to maximize the impact of biomedical research to improve human health. Working closely with the organization’s board, she sets its strategic priorities, advances its members’ objectives, and develops tools for the nonprofit biomedical community. Dr. Franko’s background includes over 20 years of program management at the Howard Hughes Medical Institute (HHMI), including strategic planning as well as creating, implementing, and managing over a dozen programs and initiatives. Dr. Franko is currently on the board of the Center for Open Science, serving as its chair from 2018 through 2021. She is also a member of the NASEM Roundtable on Aligning Incentives for Open Science, and led the development of the Open Science Signaling Language Template and Rubric section of the NASEM Toolkit for Fostering Open Science Practices.
